Wonder Woman 1984: DC FanDome Panel
new wonder woman 1984 trailer brings new info!
During the Wonder Woman 1984 DC FanDome event, we got a new trailer, and a good look at Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah. In this article, we’ll be breaking down what we found out, and giving our opinion on the whole thing.
CHEETAH: CATS REBOOT OR TOTAL BADASS?
In the trailer, WB didn’t shy away from showing Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah, Wonder Woman’s next nemesis. The first really clear look at the villain looked slick and fresh, and I’m pumped to see the feline face off against Diana. It brought a little bit of bad memories from 2019’s CATS, but much cleaner than expected.
Otherwise, we still don’t know Barbara’s full motive for turning into such an antagonist, but we now know that it has something to do with the dreaded Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal from The Mandalorian). Another fun fact is her whole cat-like body is a combination of practical effects and CGI.
YOUNG DIANA IS BACK!
Another thing we caught from the second trailer is the return of young Diana, who seems to be participating in some sort of race in a giant gladiatorial structure. Nothing else was confirmed about the little superhero, but she’s sure in it.
A LOT IS PRACTICAL. WELL, NOT THAT CGI LIGHTNING THAT DIANA SWINGS ON…
Despite some moments in the trailer requiring CG effects, a lot of what you see are practical costumes, stunts, and environments, making everything look as real as possible. According to Patty Jenkins, the director, a lot of the film will be “real people in real environments,” well except for that CGI thunderstorm. Still, Diana swinging on lightning is pretty incredible.
All that work really payed off into making an all-out epic, visually dazzling, vibrant and thrilling trailer. It just got me more, and more hyped. Especially considering how solid its predecessor was.
